Research & Development

In the early years of flour enrichment initiatives in our country, Khousheh Fars Flour Company embarked on a close collaboration with the Institute of Nutrition at the University of Tehran, the Food and Drug Organization, and the Grain Office of Fars Province. Together, we worked on a pilot project for enriching flour with folic acid. In recent years, our company has also partnered with Shiraz University to develop gluten-free grain products using innovative gluten substitutes, catering to the needs of individuals with celiac disease.

Celiac patients face digestive challenges when consuming grains containing gluten, such as wheat, barley, and rye. Celiac disease is a genetic condition that can cause significant harm to the digestive system. While some individuals may have this disease without displaying symptoms, it can emerge during childhood and impair the absorption of iron and vitamins. The treatment for celiac disease involves adopting a gluten-free diet, making it crucial for patients to consume gluten-free grains. Therefore, incorporating gluten-free products like pasta, bread, cakes, and cookies into their diet can help manage the disease. Recent research suggests that even individuals without celiac disease can experience improved digestive health by following a gluten-free diet.

It is important to recognize that celiac patients cannot produce gluten-free products themselves. This responsibility lies with grain and flour manufacturing companies. At Khousheh Fars Flour Company, we understand the needs of these patients and consider it part of our social responsibility to produce specialized products tailored to their requirements. Our company is currently engaged in extensive research and has achieved significant success in meeting the needs of celiac patients.

In addition to offering a wide range of flour varieties, another successful aspect of our operations involves the production of wheat germ and bran flour. Wheat germ and bran are packed with essential nutrients, including minerals, proteins, and a variety of vitamins, providing exceptional nutritional value.
